This product is a pack of Tsukimi-themed Yukimi Daifuku. I found them at my local 7-11 store recently, and they were priced at 194 yen including tax.
The good
These tsukimi daifuku are a really fun seasonal twist on the ever-popular ice cream. The yellow mochi outer is designed to resemble the full moon, giving the familiar product an appropriately autumnal makeover. I loved the attention to detail, particularly the four different package designs featuring Yukimi Usagi enjoying traditional moon-viewing scenes. The combo of the chewy mochi and vanilla ice cream is simple but satisfying, and the seasonal design makes these feel a little more special than the standard version. A fun and tasty treat for autumn!
The not so good
The biggest downside is that this is only available for a very short time. My guess is that it'll disappear by early October, which feels like a shame when it's such a cute seasonal variation. It is the kind of product you can easily become a fan of, only to find that it's already vanished from supermarket and convenience store freezers a few weeks later. The limited availability also means you need to keep an eye out for it during the relatively small window when it's sold. I'd happily see the yellow mochi and moon-viewing designs stick around for much longer!
