The description

This product is a Pastel Pudding Madeleine, and you can find it for a limited time at Family Mart stores across Japan. It was priced at 280 yen including tax.

The good

If you like pudding and you also like baked goodies (who doesn't?!) then I would suggest trying out this new Pastel Pudding Madeleine. The texture of it is soft and moist, and it's dotted with caramel chips that give it a bit of crunch and a slightly toasty flavor that balances nicely with the pudding-inspired sweetness. It's meant to taste like Pastel's pudding, and although I can't say that I've personally tried that, I think it does a good job of emulating pudding-esque flavors. The packaging is also cute, with a bit of a retro feel to it.

The not so good

As tasty as it is, there were a few downsides. At 280 yen, it feels a little pricey for its size, especially compared to a lot of other convenience store sweets. The caramel chips are a nice idea, but I do think if you're someone who doesn't like texture in your baked goods then you won't be a fan of that. Also, it's only available from Family Mart, which is a small nuisance if you're closer to other convenience store chains like Lawson or 7-11. Overall though, a tasty dessert if you're a fan of pudding, so keep an eye out for it if it sounds appealing to you. Happy eating!
