If you felt like summer dragged on this year, you were right

My husband and I have complained about Japanese summers basically since we moved here, but it has been a more emphatic discussion each year of late. It feels like the season just continues to get extended with "unseasonably warm weather," and it's not just our imaginations making us extra sensitive.

News from researchers this week noted that summers here have extended by about three weeks over the last 42 years owing to climate change. On the plus side (I guess?) winters have stayed pretty much the same.

It really does get me wondering what we'll see over the next forty or so years, with the impacts of climate change not really going away. I was so shocked during peak summer where even Hokkaido was facing temperatures in the 40s, which felt unheard of when I first moved here.
