When a BK is a big deal

We have lots of McDonalds and KFC branches in Niigata, but one big global chain that was missing until last month was Burger King. There had been stores in Niigata in the past, but I guess once upon a time they didn't perform well, so for a while if you wanted your Whopper fix you'd have to go somewhere outside the prefecture. 

That all changed last month (June 2026), with the opening of a Burger King branch at the Aeon Mall Niigata Kameda Interchange.

If you do go, I will say that it's busier than other Burger King stores I've been to (scarcity mindset, maybe!), but in true Japanese fashion it was all pretty smooth despite that. I do hope more stores will open up so that it's not one store serving the entire prefecture, but I guess it'll all depend on high level company decisions.
