The good
This matcha pain au chocolat from Tully's is a really nice sweet treat if you appreciate a bit of Japanese-Western fusion. As the name suggests, it's your usual French-style pain au chocolat but with the addition of a matcha flavored topping, and I think the flavor combo actually pairs really nicely together -- the sweetness of the chocolate complements the slight bitterness/earthiness of the matcha well. I also think the price feels fairly decent for what is a pretty sizeable pastry, so I don't have anything to complain about in that regard.
The not so good
This is only a limited time offering on Tully's menu, so if you find yourself really enjoying this then you only have a short window to get your hands on it. I'm not 100% sure how long it'll be available for, but I would be guessing a few weeks, tops. Overall, I think this is a really nice dessert if you already enjoy a good pain au chocolat and you appreciate fusion-style sweet treats. The size is quite generous and I feel like the value for money is pretty reasonable as a result. Head in to your nearest Tully's store while you can if it sounds like a must-try item for you.
