I've mentioned a couple of times that in no way, shape, or form does it feel like spring out here in Niigata, so I am doing my best to remind myself that we'll eventually be rid of winter in snack form. This sakura dorayaki was a recent purchase from Kaldi Coffee Farm, and it has quite a few good things going for it! First, the outer dorayaki dough is a pretty pink color, which I think looks immediately eye-catching. The inner bean paste filling is flavored with salted sakura leaves, which adds a nice flavor. Also, the price felt very reasonable at 149 yen including tax.

Obviously, one big downside is that this is a limited time only product -- so if you find yourself really enjoying it, you'll only have a short window of time to get your hands on it. Maybe that's part of the appeal, though...like the blossoms, it's a fleeting thing, which makes you appreciate it more! Overall, this is a tasty and reasonably priced snack or dessert, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys sakura-themed treats at this time of year.
