Planning to head home during GW? You won't be the only one...

I know quite a few of my expat friends here opt to use the Golden Week break as a chance to head back to their home countries for a bit, and if you're planning on doing the same you can anticipate airports to be busier than usual!

A recent survey by major travel agency JTB (reported on via The Japan Times) has estimated that around 572,000 people in Japan will travel abroad over the holiday period, which is a jump of 8.5% from last year.

Most overseas trips are heading to nearby Asian destinations like South Korea and Taiwan, but the U.S. and Europe remain popular as well. Shorter trips of three-nights were the main duration that people are planning.

Are you heading somewhere for the upcoming Golden Week break, or will you be like me and keeping yourself firmly planted in your local area?
