What it's like to live in a heavy snow area

What's it like to live somewhere with heavy snow? It can be beautiful, but also dangerous. This is the main street of my local area last night, with Urasa Station being that big, illuminated building. The roads here stay fairly clear because of the sprinkler network that melts it away using ground water, but when the snow is coming down at the rate it has been, the roads still get fairly slushy.

When the weather is like this, we find it easiest to stay home as much as possible and avoid driving too much. Thankfully, most people out here are fairly experienced with these kinds of road conditions, but it's still not easy when things are slushy and the snow is coming down!
