If you’re like me then you probably enjoy just wandering the aisles at convenience stores here in Japan, looking for anything new or exciting that you haven’t noticed before. Today I came across chocolate yokan, which to me hit two of my cravings in one. I love chocolate in all its many forms, and yokan was something I got addicted to during pregnancy here (maybe an odd craving, but I was obsessed!).
I split it with my husband and we both thought it was pretty good! He mentioned that it tasted a bit like coffee jelly to begin with - which I agreed with - but then you got the chocolate aftertaste that lingered. Yokan is something I really enjoy because it tends to kick my cravings for sweets pretty quickly with just a few mouthfuls. If you’re headed to 7-11 and you’re a yokan fan, this could be something to add to your basket!
After spending the last several years in the beating heart of Tokyo, I will be spending the next three in the countryside of Japan. I adore this country and all it has to offer - and I'm always learning more and more about life here as I go along! I try to update my blog daily - and my husband also writes on City Cost as "genkidesuka"!
