Things I love about Japan: cheap, accessible breakfasts
Something I struggled with in my home country was how the whole concept of breakfast somehow turned into a luxury outing. Don't get me wrong, I love a good cafe brekky as much as the next person, but paying a small fortune before 10am always felt like a hit to the wallet. Living here flipped that idea on its head, and nowhere shows the contrast better than Komeda.

Their breakfast still astounds me in the best way. You order a drink and then you've got your choice of several breakfast sets to choose from like it's the most normal thing in the world. It's nothing fancy (toast and an egg, or toast with a couple of different spread options), but all of that included for the price of your beverage is a pretty sweet deal.

I'm a fan of Japan's quick and cheap breakfasts, too! I prefer a light breakfast, so coffee, toast, and an egg do the trick.

@TonetoEdo I double checked on a cafe's website in my home city back in Australia, and a simple breakfast of toast (either sourdough or raisin toast) with jam was $9 AUD which is about 933 yen as of today. The minimum wage there is much higher, but it just seems so exorbitant to me.

@genkidesu I hear you. I looked up my favourite bakery cafe in Vancouver. A single sausage roll and a medium Americano cost $ 6.50 Canadian. That's about Y750 before tax.
