The description

This product is a whipped cream and red bean paste (tsubu-an) dorayaki, which was purchased from my local Lawson convenience store. It was priced at 192 yen including tax.

The good

I love a good dorayaki, and the pancake portion of this was delicious – perfectly chewy and it had a nice flavor. I also liked how the whipped cream complemented the red bean paste. On its own I feel like red bean paste is a bit earthy tasting, but the whipped cream added just the right of sweetness to elevate the dessert. I felt like the ratios of the fillings were also quite balanced, which was good. The filling is also packed in there, so props to whoever devised the product for really being generous with that!

The not so good

My biggest gripe/complaint with this is that I wish the dorayaki was filled with koshi-an (the smooth red bean paste) rather than tsubu-an (the chunky one). To me, it would have been a nicer dessert with the smooth whipped cream and smooth bean paste together, rather than adding the textural element. Does anyone actually prefer tsubu-an over koshi-an? Other than that complaint about the bean paste, I felt like this was a pleasant enough dessert. In saying that, I don't know that I'd go out of my way to repurchase it based on the tsubu-an element -- it's just really not my preference when it comes to bean paste.
