The description
This is the newly released "melty chocolate with caramel crush" ice cream from Haagen-Dazs. I found it at my local Family Mart and it was 378 yen including tax.
The good
This new Haagen-Dazs offering is a really tasty option for anyone who likes rich and indulgent ice creams. It's also an ice cream that is suited to adults, because it does contain liqueur. The base ice cream flavor is chocolate, and it's dotted with caramel chips that do a good job of adding some texture to the product. Then the whole thing is topped with quite a thick layer of chocolate sauce. The alcohol percentage is only 0.1% so it's nothing too intense. Really great flavor, and all of the components worked very well together for a delicious treat.
The not so good
Since the product contains alcohol, it means that it's off limits for certain people such as those following a halal diet. I don't think the alcohol addition makes a huge difference to the taste of the product overall, so it makes me question if it was really needed. Of course, the price is also quite high with this, as it's pushing the 400 yen mark. Even though I liked this a lot, it's not something I would purchase more than once and that's primarily based on what it costs. Still, definitely worth trying if you are a fan of indulgent ice creams and all things chocolate.
