Is your reading piling up?

I wrote recently about how autumn is often called dokusho no aki, or "the season of reading" here, and I feel like it's extremely appropriate! When the weather cools down and the pace of summer slows, it's a perfect cue to spend more time at home or in cafes with a book in hand.

I recently learned about another book-related term here, which is tsundoku. Maybe some of you already knew it, but it refers to the pile of unread books many of us collect with good intentions. The term literally means "to pile up reading," and I think it's something I've definitely been guilty of at times in my life!

Guilty as charged! Image created via Canva.

I've often bought books because they've had cute designs on the cover or an interesting summary on the back, and then the pace of my day-to-day often gets in the way of me actually reading them. I'm going to try and remedy that in the tail end of the year!

Are you making time for reading this autumn, or is the concept of tsundoku one you resonate with?
