One of Tokyo's best azalea events is this weekend

If you're in Tokyo this weekend, I recommend taking the trip out to Ome to enjoy the Shiofune Kannon azalea festival. Before we moved out to Niigata we lived about 15 minutes away from this area, and we used to go there every spring. I've visited a lot of flower fields/events in different parts of the country, and I think this place is still my number one.

During azalea season the temple does charge a small admission fee, but it's worth every yen, in my opinion:

Adults (junior high school students and older) 300 yen

Children (elementary school students) 100 yen

Seniors (75 years and older) 250 yen

The opening hours are from 8am until 5pm. Go and enjoy the scenery before the flowers are over for another year!
