The description

This product is a lemon baumkuchen made using lemons from the Setouchi region, Japan's largest lemon-producing area. It was priced at 168 yen including tax.

The good

The Setouchi region of Japan is the country's largest lemon producing area, and there are a few lemon-themed items available from Family Mart stores at the moment that feature them. One of them is this lemon baumkuchen, and I think from a visual standpoint it's very eye-catching. The packaging has illustrations of lemons on it which immediately looks appealing on a shelf-level, and the clear window shows the cake inside with its drizzled glaze -- it just looks fresh and appetizing. The cake itself is really good, too. The lemon flavor makes it feel very light and refreshing (I feel like it's a well thought out release from Family Mart) as opposed to heavier cakes featuring things like chocolate or cream. The price is super reasonable as well, I think!

The not so good

If anything, I'd say that the lemon flavor is quite subtle -- you can obviously still taste and smell it, but it's not overly strong. I can imagine if you were expecting a super lemony taste that maybe you might think this was underwhelming. I think it was nice though, because I feel like it opens it up to people who maybe would've been on the fence about lemon-flavored desserts. A solidly delicious item and I wish it was around for longer! Definitely give it a try if you see it at your local Family Mart and you enjoy lemon-flavored desserts. Happy eating!
