This wild July

Anyone else surprised at the weather so far in July? It has felt significantly more mild than previous years - I actually read that it’s the mildest summer thus far since 1993 - and we have still been getting a ton of rain out here in Niigata.

So much so that we actually had two emergency alerts last night! The first was a warning about the possibility of landslides due to the significant rainfall we got (it was absolutely bucketing down last night)...

And the second was actually about residents of certain parts of Uonuma being advised to evacuate.

I guess when I wished for rainy season to carry on for a long time I should have been more careful.

The sun is out today, and for once I’m not going to complain about it!
