Electronic Vapor Mosquito Magic
Mosquitoes are a huge problem in Japan. Those bothersome little buggers are starting to come out in droves as everything warms up. These past few days we have finally gotten some well-needed rain and with the heat that is going on, the mosquitoes have spawned. Every year, there would be droves of them buzzing around our old apartment. Every side of the building would be surrounded to the point where it wasn't worth stepping outside. Luckily in our bedroom, we had a well-fitted screen on the window to let in any cool breeze and keep the bugs at bay.
The white specks aren't snowflakes
I was hopeful that once we moved our days of mosquito hell would be over, or at least be a bit better.
I was wrong.
That lush beautiful green field is the bane of my happiness.
Not only is there a huge breeding ground just next door, but none of our doors or windows has a single bug screen. This means if we open a window or door even a crack, within five minutes the inside of our house is a mosquito playground. My son will often wake to giant welts on his arms, legs, face, back and belly. Even just one mosquito can keep me awake, but seven?! Maybe more? At a certain point, it is just ridiculous. And without air conditioning, the house is warm and tepid. It would be cooler sleeping outside. Maybe, there would be fewer mosquitoes, too.
But Japan has the best solution.
A-su No-mato
This little pig releases a chemical into the air that kills mosquitoes. And it is super effective.
Excuse the hairs... I need to sweep.
Every morning I wake up to the lovely sight of a mosquito graveyard. The bottle of chemicals lasts about two months and you can buy refills. As long as you are ok with the use of pyrethroid, the active ingredient, then you should really try these out. You can find them in any drug store or on Amazon .
