Covering your head in the heat
Is it just a Japanese thing or did I miss something growing up? but I DO NOT want to cover my head when it is hot. Yes, I will suffer a hat in the blazing sun to keep it off my face instead of burn and look like a crawfish at a crawfish boil. But that hat is not to keep me cool. However, people insist on covering my son's head in the heat. His kindergarten requires a hat. I obliged my Japanese friend on our day trip because having my son look like a watermelon was worth it, but I don't think having his head covered provided him any more relief from the heat and humidity. Wetting the scarf would have made sense to me though. What do you guys think?
