3way spiral peeler from Daiso

I bought this on a whim and only sorta regret it. I love spiralled vegetables. They are great as a topping for soumen/udon, a common dinner for our family during summer.The thinner the vegetables the better they taste. This little device does what it says...to only half of the vegetable.

Cucumbers and carrots are spiraled perfectly but then it gets down to the two and a half inches where the blade is. There is no way to finish spiraling it without nipping your fingers. Too bad. So I end up cutting the rest on a cutting board.

Same problem with potatoes. They are too short and there isn't a good way to grip them inside the device. 

It was a good idea but a fail in design.
