How to Increase Iron during your Period in Japan

In my workplace, there are a total of four women including myself. One of the things that we would just randomly blurt out during breaks almost every month is our periods.

Sometimes we would make comparisons and share ways on how to deal with it as it comes since we basically could relate to each other despite being in different age groups.

One day as we were having lunch, I saw one of them drinking something from a pink bottle, and out of curiosity, I asked what it was. She said it's called BB Chocola and it's an iron supplement that helps her with her period. It hasn't come out in 3 days when it was scheduled to do so and the drink helps her with it.

She doesn't particularly like the taste, as a matter of fact, she despises it because of its aftertaste. My other co-worker who is a registered nurse mentioned that you can check if someone is low on iron by checking their eyes which she did with mine and she noticed how my eyes were pale. When I found out about this, I got more curious about this iron drink supplement, and as my period was late for 2-3 days, I thought it would not hurt to try it out.

So the next day, I went to the nearby pharmacy and bought a bottle which cost about 240 yen. I had dinner and drank the bottle afterwards and to my surprise, I liked how it tasted! And to add to that, the following day after drinking BB Chocola, my period finally came. It could have been a coincidence for all I know but I was glad I tried it out.

I found out that they are sold on Amazon for a cheaper price and as I planned to buy it online, I stumbled upon a cheaper version of the item at my local Seiyu store! Today, I have had my second bottle and the reason I am drinking this even after my period is that I feel more tired than usual probably because of this super confusing autumn weather we have been having!

As the bottle says it can be helpful when you are tired, I figured it would be nice to see if it can be of any help at all. It did work before I had my period so it's worth a try this time around. I will let you know next time after I finish all four bottles! Two more to go!
