The description
Kinakochoko is a Kinako bean powder flavoured chocolate treat made by Tirol Choko, known for their single squares of flavoured chocolate available at convenience stores.
The good
I wanted a little pick-me-up, something chocolatey, on a Friday night after work. The global price of chocolate has increased dramatically, and my favorite chocolate bars now cost over 200 yen each. So when I saw Tirol Chocolate in this limited-edition package for 100 yen, I decided to give it a try. Tirol describes Kinako Choko as a "semi-chocolate" treat. The snack is mochi wrapped in kinako-flavored chocolate. They're small but full of kinako flavor. They're chewy thanks to the mochigumi, a chewy candy center.
The not so good
The limited time Tirol Kinako Choko is a sticky, gooey treat full of kinako flavour. If you're a fan of kinako, I'd say don't miss the brief window that this product is available. It's only 100 yen for a handful of pieces. Keep in mind that Tirol describes this as a "semi-chocolate" item on their product website. The outer coating is primarily flavoured with kinako, roasted soybean flour. It's usually dusted on mochi, dango, and sometimes bread. It's got a lovely caramel and nutty flavour. I didn't groove on the mochi centre, but it's a nice treat.
