Because the yen is so low value, a trip to the UK to see the rellies is not on my calendar this year. So I keep up with them over email and social media. I miss the culture, so I indulge in imported shortbread and YouTube videos. I splurged on a classic tartan scarf from Locharron of Scotland. The scarf is made of 100% new wool and comes in a variety of tartans. I settled on the weathered Stuart tartan version. The scarf is about 150 cm long. It has a prominent label with the mill's name on it. The colours are muted.

This scarf from Locharran of Scotland is a lovely thing. It's a splurge at 5995 yen. I'm pleased with it, but at first, I was a bit shocked at what I got. The length sounds good at 150 cm, which doesn't sound short, but this is just enough to wrap around your neck with the ends in the front. At first, I thought it was a bit thin, but it's not scratchy and very warm. The colours go well with neutrals and dark colours. Because it's the "weathered" version, it's not as eye-popping as traditional Stuart tartan. Locharron's website has a tartan finder, if you're looking for your family version.
