Retro train livery for Tobu's 60th anniversary

After school got out today, I bid my students goodbye on the platform of Kasukabe Station and dashed onto the Omiya-bound train. But something was different. Did I take the wrong train? I noticed that the car's interior was devoid of advertising. And then I spied the color of the interior - not the modern Tobu Urban Park Line green and blue, but orange and beige, the retired colors.

On November 1st, Tobu is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the 8000 formation cars with a stamp rally that runs until January 8th of next year.

For your retro train fix, if you get your timing right, you can ride the first car of the retro train which has a photo retrospective of the Tobu train lines. You might spot the train staff in retro uniforms, too, in the cab.

Another nostalgic touch is the rotating mechanical destination signs.
