The description
Ginza Waffle, a sweets shop in Tokyo's fashionable Ginza district, offers Honey & Cheese Ginza Waffle. The package contains a single item, a stroopwafel.
The good
My visitors from the Netherlands never fail to bring stroopwafels. These gooey confections are made with two waffles filled with caramel. Ginza Waffle, the Tokyo confectionery shop, produces an interpretation of these coffee-break treats. At a 7-11 convenience store, I picked up Honey & Cheese Ginza Waffle. The single waffle has a sweet cheese filling. The waffles are delicious as is. The traditional way to serve them is to place them over a hot cup of coffee to bring out the buttery flavour.
The not so good
Ginza Waffle Honey & Cheese Ginza Waffle is a lovely sweet treat. It's a nice interpretation of the Dutch stroopwafel. The single waffle is 149 calories. The ingredients list mizu ame before honey, but it's still got the well-rounded flavour of honey. It's not for people who are minding their sugar intake. It's also got a dash of salt which brings out the cheese. The product label doesn't specify what kind of cheese. I perched the waffle on the rim of my morning coffee for a minute. Ginza waffle is lighter than the Dutch original, but a nice treat.
