Wisteria SPOT REPORT

Wisteria SPOT REPORT photo

On Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026, the Kanto region had glorious sunshine. On arrival at Kasukabe Station, I shot dozens of photos of the 藤棚, fujidana, or wisteria trellises at the west exit.

Kasukabe City is known for a one-kilometer-long ふじどうり fujidori, or wisteria street. There are half a dozen varieties of wisteria, ranging from deep purple to ivory.

If the sun favours the city, the citizens go all out for Fuji Matsuri on April 26th. Under the swaying blossoms, citizens show off music, dance, and traditional entertainment.

This year, I'm hoping to take in 大道芸, daidogei, traditional street performance.
