At a 7-11 convenience store, I needed change to use a photocopier, and I was feeling peckish. So to break a 1000 yen note, I picked up one of the cheapest sandwhiches on the shelf. The Yokobari Sando, "Greedy Sandwich" lineup at 7-11 started in spring 2026. The series offers a single slice of bread using a revamped recipe, and has a handful of savory and sweet fillings. The concept focuses on the bread as a container for the fillings. This sandwich is a croquette with macaroni and cheese with a generous amount of sauce.

The small sammie, Yokubari Kurokke & Makaroni Chizu is a small but satsifying sandwich. If you need a whack of calories on the go and you only have 200 yen in your pocket, go for it. The clerk handed me an oshibori and I understood why. The sandwich is dressed with a lot of mayonnaise-based sauce, so it's a bit sloppy to eat. The sandwich brings to mind yakisoba pan, a sammie that packs leftovers in a bun. It's kind of homey. This sandwich makes a good breakfast option. I found it at a 7-11 in Chiba Prefecture.
