Monteur, a confectioner, has retail shops but none near me. I was craving something sweet and spied this "shuukuriimu", a choux pastry, in a Namco-branded vending machine near my workplace. The cream puff has two layers, one with smooth egg custard and the other whipped cream made with Hokkaido milk. The pastry was buttery, too. You want to eat this right away. I chilled mine in the package for about 20 minutes before I had a chance to eat it. It's good with a cup of coffee to contrast with the sweet.

Normally, I would avoid getting chilled dairy-laden sweets from a vending machine. However, the quality of Monteur confections and the food safety of the vending machine company, Namco, are reliable. I liked this cream puff and would get it again. The price is right, too, at under 150 yen. Some supermarkets also carry this sweet for a lower price. I paid extra for the convenience, I guess. Some cream puffs are sloppy to eat but I found this one held up nicely and had a satisfying amount of filling.
