The description

The good

One foreign food from abroad that is hard to come by in Japan is cheese. So when I spotted the display of imported cheeses in my local Yokumart Supermarket, I had to pick up this reasonably priced bag of cheddar cheese. The product line Cheeno imported by DPS derives its name from a portmanteau of cheese and buono, the Italian word for "good, and delicious". This package of cheddar cheese is made from milk produced in Ireland in a 90 gram bag. The cheese, a cream color, has a distinctive cheddar flavor.

The not so good

This is a pretty good product for the price, 300 yen. Note that the cheese is not slices but described on the label as "crushed", but more aptly described as cubes or small slices. Unlike cheddar in my native Canada which is highly colored with orange food dye, this cheese appears to be ivory in color. This cheese has a mild pungency, hard texture, and sharpness I longed for. I enjoyed it with a toasted baguette and it did the trick. This cheese is quite mild in flavor. To preserve the flavor, keep it in a box with a little moisture.
