The description
Major Asahi Breweries teams up with comedian Egashira 2:50 to create EGA BEER. The limited-edition beer came out in June 2026. The beer uses Asahi's standard yeast and six varieties of hops.
The good
I must admit, I didn't couldn't put the name to the face of Egashira 2:50, a popular comedian and YouTuber. Here's the somewhat controversial celebrity's collab with Asahi beer. The beer, in limited quantities, is made with the yeast Asahi uses for Super Dry and six unspecified types of hops. The beer has adjuncts - rice and corn starch - which are common in big beers. The beer is similar to Asahi Super Dry. EGA BEER has an interesting packaging gimmick with four distinct can designs. These are a laugh if you're into anagrams.
The not so good
EGA BEER is an okay offering from the major brewery Asahi. It's a little varied compared to the standard Super Dry. If you're not picky and like Asahi, this is an okay beer. The mystery of this beer's recipe is the hops. They're not specified on the label or the product page. And you can't really guess what they might be, as the adjuncts, rice and cornstarch, kind of dilute their flavours. The beer is okay flavourwise, somewhat citrusy, with light bitterness, and little aftertaste. For Egashira 2:50 fans, I guess this is one of those "oshikatsu", fan support, products.
