An ongoing project chez Tone to Edo is reducing waste. It's hard in Japan, where the majority of products are swaddled in plastic. A goal this year is to eliminate single-use things from my shopping basket, including paper products. I added cost-effective and lower-waste toilet paper to my routine last month. Sugi Drugstores carry a variety of toilet papers in their in-house S-Select brand. The Oasis Cho (very) Long four rolls of toilet paper appealed to me because they're coreless. The label indicates each roll is equivalent to four.

The label on Oasis Cho (very) Long four rolls of toilet paper has a typical Japanese appeal - convenience. The rolls last longer, reducing the need to change them out. I hefted the 12 roll and 4 roll packages to compare the weight. They're about the same, but so is the price. It's not a great deal. The coreless toilet paper lasts very long so it lasts forever. The last meter or two doesn't unspool very well. But it's not a waste! I use the last thick bit for cleaning tasks in the bath, laundry, and toilet. And no more toilet cores in the recycling bag!
