On the recommendation of some serious ramen fans, I picked up this noodle dish at 7-11. This dish Hiyashi Tantanmen supervised by the near-legendary Iida Shoten ramen shop in Yugawara, Kanagawa Prefecture. Iida Shoten's take on convenience store ramen has flat noodles with a slightly spicy broth scented with chilli oil. The toppings are meat miso, bean sprouts tossed with chili oil, tomatoes, sunny lettuce, negi, and red onions. The soup base is complex with hints of anise, cinnamon, and cardamom.

This takeout hiyashi tantanmen dish is reasonably priced and packed with flavour. The carefully prepared dish suggests why Iida Shoten is regarded as ramen holy ground. I have no complaints about this dish. The product website suggests that because of demand for Iida Shoten's ramen, this item could sell out quickly. The ramen comes in a lidded dish with a tray to carry the toppings. It was easy to serve in the container. I'm particular about the Three Rs. I reused the container. The lid fits tightly even without the topping tray.
