The description

Boy Bawang is a brand of cornick, a snack from the Philippines. This cornick, a type of corn snack, is flavored with garlic and chilli powder. It's available at some Belx supermarkets.

The good

Ever curious about cuisines, ingredients, and snacks from other Asian countries, I couldn't pass this one up. Boy Bawang is, I learned, a major Philippine brand of cornick, a deep-fried corn-based snack. Corn, whether the glutinous or popping kind, is soaked in water, dried, and then deep-friend to make this crunchy snack. This version is Boy Bawang Cornick hot garlic flavor. The snack is satisfyingly crunchy and seasoned with garlic and chilli. It goes well with beer. There are other flavors available, but this one is classic cornick.

The not so good

KCK Food's Boy Bawang Cornick, hot garlic flavor, is a pretty good snack for the price. At my local Belx, a 60 gram bag is 88 yen. It's fun to try snacks from other Asian countries to see what appeals to the palates of Japan's neighbors. This snack, cornick, is much like corn nuts snacks I'm familiar with from North America. They're prepared in a similar way - deep-fried corn kernels with various flavorings. The Philippine classic garlic flavored version of cornick is not too spicy. I'd get this again, and I'll keep my eyes peeled for other versions.
