The description

Yamayoshi Confectionery, known for its creative potato chip flavors, released the second in its "Mugen", endless, series of potato chips. In April 2024 it's "sarada aji", salad flavor.

The good

I have to admit, the devlish-looking potato chip character on the package made me get this potato chip package. Yamayoshi Confectionery has a lot of fun with packaging. Some years ago, they did a series of mystery flavors, inviting consumers to guess the flavor from the colors and hints on packages. This packet of potato chips is the second in their "Mugen", or endless, series. The bag is labeled "sarada aji", salad flavor. The salad in question is a Korean-inspired izakaya favorite, choregi salad with sesame oil, garlic, and nori seaweed.

The not so good

Who knew you could make salad-flavored potato chips? I enjoyed every bite of this choregi salad-flavored packet of chips. I loved every savory bit of them and they're a reasonable price at 150 yen. The package is fun, too, with a wicked potato chip and the copy on the package which reads, "devilishly delicious" and "yamerareso demo yarerenai". You think you can stop but you can't stop. I'd get these chips again in a heartbeat. Besides the great flavor, I enjoy reading the packaging copy as it encourages me to read and sometimes learn new expressions and kanji.
