The good
The ojisan neighbour's kitchen is cluttered with so many hundred yen shop goods. I tell him he has too much stuff. But I succumb to the pull of 100 yen stuff for every purpose. This plywood tray at Daiso is sold at a higher price point. It's one of Daiso 100 yen shop's 500 yen items. The 30 cm by 40 cm plywood tray is treated with urethane. It's about as heavy as a donburi bowl. The grippy surface is easy to wipe down with a damp cloth. The tray was not wrapped in plastic. It has a simple product sticker on the back.
The not so good
This plywood tray looks stylish, does what it says on the label, and looks like it will hold up to gentle daily use. I liked the fact that the tray is not packaged. One thing that puts me off of buying natural material 100 yen items is plastic packages. This item has two small product stickers that came off cleanly with no residue. The label cautions against soaking it. It's plywood (type of wood not specified) after all. I'll be careful to not leave it damp as I suspect the edges may lose their lamination.
