This product looks similar to the well-known Black Thunder snack. It has the same crispy texture as Black Thunder, made with plain biscuits and cocoa cookies. However, the Excellent version uses premium cocoa beans for the chocolate coating. Inside, the chocolate chips give the treat a deep, indulgent chocolate flavor. It's distinctly different from standard Black Thunder. The treat comes in a gold-coloured package with the word "Excellent" in English. I liked this treat. I'll be back for more next time I'm at 7-11.

I'm a fan of Black Thunder, the long-selling chocolate candy treat. The bars are big enough to give you a sugar and cocoa hit, and small enough to not make you feel guilty. But note that this premium version of Black Thunder, "Excellent", also comes at a premium price. This item is 88 yen before tax, so the price is closing in on 100 yen. Yuraku's classic light chocolate treat was priced at 30 yen for the longest time. Inflation might be to blame as much as the more expensive quality cocoa. The product information page says Excellent is exclusive to 7-11 convenience stores.
