Nagoya's International Flavors

It is the beginning of the year 2021 and it's a wonderful time to look back to the better things that happened last year: being able to find the best food stops in town.

Living in a foreign land means adjusting to so many things from learning a new language, to choosing the appropriate clothes, minding your manners, respecting the norms and culture, and of course getting used to a new diet; loving the food.

However, there are times when your taste buds are just dying to get a shift in flavor, especially when the most proper meal you eat every single day is school lunch. You know what that means, quite plain but healthy.

Nagoya is a city bursting with flavors from all around the world. If you are a foodie, or just a gaikokujin missing the food back home, here is a reasonable list, my top 3, of foreign restaurants that you should definitely visit and check out when you are in Nagoya.

1. DESPERADOS Mexican Restaurant and Bar

From the name itself, yes, it is a Mexican restaurant. You might ask, "What about authenticity?" As real as it can be. This place is worth visiting when you want to experience real Mexican cuisine as they serve a wide variety of Mexican and classic Tex-Mex food. In addition to their food menu, they also serve the best selection of Tequila in Nagoya.

What makes the experience great in this place is the people. Imagine amazing food and great company. If that's what you're looking for, this is the perfect place to be.

This amazing place is located in the heart of Nagoya and is very much accessible through private car, taxicab, by train, and yes, on foot.

2. Osso Brazil

Have you ever done your shopping in Osu Kannon and got distracted by a fragrance you couldn't tell because it smelled like roast chicken but better? Well, you're right! It is roast chicken, but better!

This place serves the best Brazilian food in town. Aside from their specialty roast chicken, which, by the way, you get whole when you order, they serve other Brazilian favorites in set. The serving might seem quite huge for one but might not be enough for three. So, obviously, two is the perfect number.

The next time you go shopping in Osu Kannon and can't decide where to eat, this is definitely a wonderful place to try. You'll leave the place satisfied and with no regrets.

3. Midtown BBQ

From BBQ to handmade desserts, there is no competition. If you are simply looking for delicious BBQ, great drinks, and mouthwatering dessert with a reasonable price, there is no need to look further. This is where you should be.

Food is not only for the body but can also rejuvenate the soul. Choose good places to dine in. Try new food. Give your appetite a fresh adventure. And, of course, eat well and healthy.
