What drinking Shizuoka green tea everyday felt like

I found that I have quite a lot of Shizuoka green tea stocked up at home, as I had been trying different brands and bags of tea. They have been great. I have been enjoying every tea. But before trying the next new bag, I realized I should finish what I have at home first!

I remember reading about how drinking green tea regularly is healthy, so I came to the conclusion that I should drink more of the Shizuoka green tea than water for a few weeks. The teas I have been drinking are not expensive, such as Meruko seicha’s cheaper version of their tea, and this allowed me to drink the tea as much as I wanted without thinking about the cost.

So, what I have been doing has been to brew jars of Shizuoka green tea and put them into as many thermo bottles as I have at home. Some were kept hot and some had their lids opened to let the green tea cool. The important thing is that I always had tea ready to hand whenever I wanted to rehydrate myself!

For almost a month, I have been brewing the tea either before going to bed or right after I woke up. Here is how I feel about it.

At first, it felt strange. I usually chuck a whole glass of flavorless water when I feel thirsty, so it was strange that what I downed was not flavorless. Instead it was a drink that left me with a slightly bitter aftertaste.

Eventually I got used to it, specifically with the second and third brews where they were less flavorful. I found myself drinking the tea "as water."  Maybe it was a placebo effect, but I also felt more refreshed with the tea, a feeling I never got from drinking water.

One cool thing too was that because they were teas, I was actually drinking beverages of a temperature that matched what I needed.
I had hot tea ready in the thermo mug I bring around with me. There would sometimes be cups of tea in the fridge or at least some ice to cool them down after a workout. This led me to basically drink more fluids, and again, with the two Shizuoka green teas I got, they didn’t cost much at all.

Maybe due to the drinks having (a bit of) flavor, I also found myself snacking less when I wanted to some have some flavor in my mouth. Another good thing!

The only down side I found was that I would go to the bathroom more often than before, just because that’s what tea does to me. But overall, I was being more hydrated so that was definitely a positive.

I am kinda surprised that I got so used to drinking tea. These affordable Shizuoka green teas are especially easy to drink. I wouldn’t use them to serve guests or as gifts, but as something to drink daily, definitely works!
