Coppe Pan... Why??
Japan is a country full of amazing food!! And I love most of it, but one thing I cannot wrap my head around is their coppe bread. They have so many amazing breads and I feel like that one just doesn't belong.
Recently, my school has been serving it at least once a week for school lunches. It has basically no flavor. I guess it is cheap, but I could live a happy life if I never saw it again.
Real talk though, it looks like a hot dog bun. However, it is much drier! This year, I would like to make it a no coppe bread year!!!

It's a holdover from the postwar period when rice and skim milk were cheaper than rice. You can read about it on Wikipedia - https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%82%B3%E3%83%83%E3%83%9A%E3%83%91%E3%83%B3

I love this bread actually because it is so dry. It perfectly absorbed and liquids like my coffee every day so that I ate my coffee after lunch. I would also make amazing bread pudding with it at home. By itself, it is awful.

@TonetoEdo I have heard about it before. But that was when the country was really poor. I don't get why they still eat it now.

@edthethe bread pudding sounds good. I try to cover it in soup when I can. Sometimes my school just gives a huge one with very little sides and that is supposed to be our meal. I hate those days.
