The description

A cherry drink found in Acure vending machines that stresses its origin from Yamagata prefecture. Not too sweet, but not bland, this drink is likely a hit with those that enjoy the cherry flavour.

The good

The bottle claims that this drink uses real cherry juice and the cherry flavour is very distinct. The manufacturers are very specific with the type of cherry too, specifically mentioning the name “Sato Nishiki.” It’s not cherry I am familiar with but if it tastes anything like this drink then it has a mild tartiness to it with little sourness and a touch of sweetness. The beverage is thin so it doesn’t feel like you’re committing to a meal replacement. When I got it out of the vending machine, it was chilled so it did feel nice going down the throat as well.

The not so good

While it is written on the bottle that real cherries are used, it’s also written that only fifteen percent of the drink is real cherry. That does affect the flavour quite a bit, as the beverage did taste a bit reminiscent of cherry-flavoured hard candies. This could be due to my unfamiliarity with the particular type of cherry used, but I can see the taste putting off people with tongues more sensitive to a tartier cherry. People sensitive to sugar should also avoid this as fructose is the number one ingredient in this drink. Lastly, those who do end up enjoying this refreshment have to get them while they can, as this particular drink is limited only while supplies last.
