Tanabata 2025

It’s another year, and another horribly hot July 7th has rolled around for, here in Chiba city, Tanabata 2025.

We live in the sort of area where there are plenty of new housing developments and yet there still manages to be space for ride paddies, small hobby farms, and a fair bit of wild bamboo. Every year, my husband takes a large bamboo branch to the nursery school where he used to work. This year, he had sufficient leftovers that I got up this morning to find a decently-sized branch sitting in my genkan.

I just checked my post for last year and, sadly, it doesn’t feel like things have gotten any better - if anything, things feel a bit worse. I find myself once again wishing for the basics as a result - I want good health and peace, for me and my loved ones, but it would be nice if we could get that for all. I wouldn’t say no to a cool breeze right now, either :/
