How Much for a Plastic Bag?
If you live in Japan, you have probably heard about how the government passed a law so that supermarkets and most other shops have to charge for plastic bags, in order to decrease the use of unnecessary plastic bags.
If you are like me the other day though and went shopping, forgetting your eco-shopping bag at home, you might need to pay up and get a bag.
Most supermarkets charge you 2 yen for a medium bag and 3 for a large with possibly a 5 yen extra large. Some shops would do 3 and 5 yen respectively for a medium and large instead.
Certain shops go full on deterring by charging 10 yen. On the other hand, I saw a shop that charged 1 yen regardless of the size.
Either way, they do add up, and more importantly, the point is to save the environment, so please bring your own shopping bag.
