The Curse of Toilet Slippers
There are many Japanese restaurants that require you to take off your shoes when you enter, and at the bathroom, they would place slippers for you to use when you are "going".
This is not just for restaurants, as some households do that too.
However, I have found myself several times, after using the washroom, walked back out into the restaurant with the slippers on!
This is of course a no-no, as the idea was to keep the restaurant floor clean, but it is sometimes hard to remember it as I do not have the toilet slipper custom at home.
More importantly, if I am at an izakaya, expect me to be tipsy if not drunk, so it is very much a trap for me and others!
With that said, I do appreciate this method of keeping the floor clean!
