Ebi Mochi - Shrimpy Rice Cake

Many foreigners would hear mochi and think of it as a dessert, most likely in a sweet red bean soup. However, did you know that there are savoury mochi, such as this ebi mochi with shrimps?

With bits of dried shrimp infused, this pink rice cake is obviously not for desserts. You can put them into nabe dishes or bake them in the toaster oven for a crispy top.

I really like it because it is savoury already. The shrimp bits also add texture to my chews, and it is a great item to fill my stomach up.
