How Much are Grilled Skewers (Yakitori) in Japan?

Yakitori is apparently gaining popularity overseas in recent years. My brother took my parents to one then complained to me how expensive the meal was ($300 for 3 people).

That was surprising because yakitori is supposed to be quite cheap in Japan.

On the low end, you can get one skewer for about 90 yen (including tax). On the high end, the price might be more than double being around 220 yen each.

It also depends on what skewers you order, but the standard stuff would be between the prices above.

All together, you can expect to spend around 2000-3000 yen per person at yakitori shops including a drink or two.
