Japanese Fried Calamari
If you are a fan of fried squid, or calamari, you should know that most supermarkets actually sell the Japanese version of it.
Often called squid (ika) karaage, you can get these crunchy fried squid and bring them home to toast them up.
Although they are called karaage, I usually find these to be better flavoured than the chicken counterparts. Instead of rings, you will often find them in long strips instead.
They go great with beer and other alcoholic drinks, and they are definitely one of my favourite fried snacks to have when I am out at an izakaya, so it is really nice that you can enjoy it at home too.

Sometimes, when I'm craving Mediterranean food, I get some fried squid, yakitori, and prepare some rice and an approximation of Greek salad.
