Nagasaki Matcha Castella Cake

Nagasaki is famous for their castella cakes, and it is something I know I enjoy a lot but do not eat much of.

One reason for it is the price, as they are usually quite expensive, but I decided to treat myself to something next recently, so here is this 500 yen matcha castella cake.

I really appreciate that this was pre-sliced, making my life easier.

The bitter matcha flavour balanced with the sweet and eggy cake a lot. The cake was moist and soft, and it felt very natural with the simple ingredients they used.

Again, this makes me think that I should eat more of these while I am in Japan. Not cheap, but worth it.
