Traditional Japanese Snack - Miso Peanut
I found one of my latest flavour traditional Japanese food: Miso-peanuts!
I asked about it and this is a traditional food, and it is basically crunchy peanuts covered with sticky sweet miso paste with sesame added.
There are two ways to eat it: one, and typical for Japanese elders, is to serve it as a snack alongside green tea. It presents you several textures with salty and sweet flavours, very satisfying.
The other way I enjoy more is to eat it with white rice. Simply putting it on top and tossing a big scoop of rice into your mouth, the sweetness of the miso peanut adds so much to the otherwise boring white rice. I went through a good two bowls of rice with just this.
If you have never tried it, see if you can find it at your supermarket. It is not expensive, and I would recommend it to anyone!
