Exploring the Wonders of Japan: My First Golden Week Experience as an OFW in Hiroshima photo

As an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) experiencing my first Golden Week in Japan, I was filled with excitement and anticipation for the four consecutive days of holiday. Living in Miyoshi City, just an hour and a half away from Hiroshima, I couldn't wait to explore the beauty and history of this remarkable city.

One of the highlights of my Golden Week adventure was visiting Hiroshima Castle Shrine. The stunning views and rich history of the castle left me in awe. Despite the bustling crowds attracted by the discounted entrance fees, the experience of stepping inside the castle and witnessing its grandeur was truly unforgettable. It was a testament to the incredible craftsmanship and architectural brilliance of ancient Japan.

Another poignant stop on our itinerary was the Atomic Bomb Dome, one of the most historically significant sites in Hiroshima, if not all of Japan. Seeing the physical remnants of the devastating impact of war was a sobering experience. Standing in front of the dome, I couldn't help but feel a profound sense of respect for the resilience of the Japanese people and a deep appreciation for the peace and prosperity that exists today.

Of course, no exploration of a new place would be complete without a taste of home. We made sure to seek out a Filipino store in Hiroshima to satisfy our cravings for familiar flavors and comfort foods. It was a heartwarming reminder of the bonds that connect us across borders and cultures, even in a distant land.

My first Golden Week experience in Japan was truly a remarkable journey filled with awe-inspiring sights, rich history, and heartfelt connections. As I look forward to future adventures in this beautiful country, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to explore and discover the wonders of Japan.
