How to use the Zozotown trade-in

Zozotown is a big online shopping site for clothes. Recently I discovered a trade-in service that allows you to trade in your previous purchases for Zozo-Points. These points can be used for new purchases with one point being equal to 1 Yen.

When you access the option 買い替え割 in the menu you can see a list of items from previous purchases that are eligible for trade-in and how many points you would get for each item. The amount of points you get isn’t very high. I would assume it is similar to the amount you would get for selling your clothes at second hand stores.

However, Zozo makes the whole process very convenient. All you have to do is choose which items you would like to sell and schedule a date and time for the pick-up. You don’t even have to leave the house.

The points will be awarded immediately and can be used for new purchases on Zozo.

A few days later a Zozo bag will arrive at your home. All you have to do is put in the clothes you selected and wait for the pick-up.

If you have clothes that you would like to sell that you did purchase elsewhere you can put them in the bag as well. Zozo will review the clothes upon arrival and provide an offer. You can then choose to accept the offer or have your clothes returned to you. All of that with free shipping. For the additional items you can choose whether to receive the amount in Zozo-Points or transferred to your bank account.

Zozo has a list of brands they do not accept so you might want to check it in advance. You can still send in clothes from these brands but you will only receive 10 Yen per item. For items that are from brand they accept but are in bad conditions you will also only get 10 Yen per item.

You could probably sell your clothes for higher prices if you put them on platforms like Mercari or Rakuma, but if you don’t have the time to photograph each item and ship them all out separately the service Zozotown provides is an easy and very convenient way to get rid of clothes you don’t need anymore.

If you are a regular user of the platform this service might come in handy. You can get rid of clothes you don’t need and save a few Yen on new purchases at the same time.
