A walk through the snow world

It was a big surprise, that a few days ago so much snow felt in Tokyo. Everywhere on the news you could see how people had to struggle with the trouble the snow made for most of the people who had to work.

Many trains and also airplane were cancled and if there was no other chance for going home, you had to stay in town or hope for a taxi or bus.

I was very luckly that my work in the evening was cancled because of the snow and I could just stay at home and enjoy the beauty of the snowflakes.

I´m living on the eastside of Tokyo, where the snow was not that strong during the day or at least close to the ocean it mostly melted before it reached the ground.

In the evening it was cold enough, that also my area got very white. I used that chance to walk around enjoying the snow and take some pictures.

Getting dressed in rainboots, two pairs of tights, a thick wintercoat, a very thick scarf, a cap and of course gloves, I was perfectly prepared for the cold weather. Moreover I felt way to hot, but better than freezing.

When I arrived at the closest station, everybody was in a hurry to catch a train or bus. The lines at the bus stations very crazy long. Surprisingly the Tokyo busses were well prepared and most of them had snow chains. The opposite for normal cars. All skidded across the streets, which looked very dangerous for the cars and pedestrian.

Unfortunately nobody realy cared about the good sights of the snow. When I arrived at the nearby shrine, I just thought, it is so beautiful when all is white. Also love the silence when snow is in town. Everything looks suddenly very peaceful.

Especially if you walk a path were nobody else walked before it is such a nice feeling, when listening to the sound of your steps and you can see only your footprint.

In my area I was the only person who really enjoyed the beauty of the snow, except some little kids who build a snowman. Especially in Tokyo it is so rare to have so much snow, that you should really enjoy it. Usually I always have to go to north of Japan for my snow walk.

Maybe we will have again a snow day in Tokyo soon. Please enjoy it and don´t think only about the bad sides!

I just love that first photo. It looks like a postcard or an advertisement showcasing Japan. I would love to see something like that with my own eyes. We are in rural Saitama so our snow scenery is a lot different than this, but equally beautiful... everything looks great in the snow. :-)
